Itinerary

Day 1Tirana-Kruja

Arrival to Tirana airport, transfer to your hotel in Kruja. Traditional dinner and accommodation in a hotel in the center of this picturesque town.

Day 2Kruje-Lezhe-Shkoder

In the morning we visit the ruins of Scanderberg’s castle, where his museum is situated. Ethnographic museum is nearby, it is an old Turkish house, where you can see all the details of the household. The best place to buy presents and souvenirs is the old Turkish bazaar. After lunch we will travel to the small town of Lezha. Here you will see the tomb of Scanderberg, our national hero. Then we will continue our travel to Shkodra, a beautiful spa-like town situated on a lake. Our hotel is in the center of town.

Day 3Shkoder-Montenegro-Shkoder

In the morning we will travel near the border with Montenegro, where the narrow road climbs along the beautiful valleys to the hillsides of Prokletije range. We will take the bus to the end of the asphalt road, which ends at 1,700 meters above sea level. After this journey, we will take a 3-km tour to the radio station, from where you have uninterrupted panoramic views of the Theth valley, the highest mountain of Jezerka and the other beauties of this wild country. When you are done watching, we go back to the mountain chalet. Here you can refresh yourself with some cold drinks and other local delicacies. For accommodation we return again to Shkodra.

Day 4Shkoder-Durres

Today we will see some sights in the town and its beautiful castle, Rozafa. After lunch,on the shores of the lake, we will travel to Durres. This is the biggest port and the second biggest city of Albania. The ancient city has got many archaeological sites to offer. The biggest amphitheater in Balkans, is one of them. We will stay overnight in Durres.

Day 5Durres-Berat

Today we start our day at the UNESCO registered town of Berat. We will visit the citadel, which is still mostly inhabited, the Onufri’s Museum and after lunch we transfer to see the rest of the city. The quarters of Gorica and Mangalem are very unique. Later in the day we will travel through the countryside to the bay of Vlora. This city was the seat of the first independent government in 1912. Today’s accommodation will be in this historic city.

Berat-Vlore-LLogara-Sarande

After the plains of this region we start climbing the high valley of the Dukat range, all the way to the Llogara national park. Here we see the amazing views to the beaches of the Ionian Sea below. After the vistas we dissent to the old villages of Dhermi, Vuno and Himara. Here we will see the old town situated on the cliff overlooking small bay below. We will stop in a bay of Porto Palermo, where you can see Ali Pasha’s castle and the military submarine base, used in the past. In the afternoon we have a short break at a restaurant in the village of Borsh, where an amazing waterfall goes straight through the building. After a further travel we will see the views from Lekursi castle, which is overlooking the bay of Saranda and the seas around the island of Corfu. Our accommodation will be in Saranda.

Sarande-Butrinit-Blu Eyes-Gjirokaster

Today we will show you the biggest archaeological park in the country, Butrinti. It is a very special site, where all different periods and styles have been mixing from its beginnings in the times of Greeks and Romans through Venetians to the Turkish. After a walk through this site, we will travel to the spring of Bistrica river. The blues and greens of this unique spring look like an iris. The next travel will take us to an old Turkish market town of Gjirokastra. Here we will visit the citadel and the old bazaar. Our overnight stay will be in this town.

Gjirokaster-Tepelene-Pogradec

In the morning we will travel short while to a town of Tepelena, to see the ruins of Ali Pasha’s castle. After that stop we continue through the town of Pogradec to a small town of Lin. Here we can see the ruins of roman city. We have lunch on the shores on Ohrid lake. One of the oldest and deepest lakes in Europe. It is protected by the state, as it very unique environment. In the afternoon you can see the promenade by the lake. Our hotel will be direct on the lake.

Pogradec-Tirana

After breakfast we will see a park Drilon. It used to be a residence and gardens of former communist leader Hoxha. Then we transfer to the capital city, Tirana. Here you enjoy your last day at the heart of this city. We start our tour on the main square, see the Ethem Bey Mosque, Clock tower, government buildings and BunkArt Museum, an old ministerial bunker, where you can learn more about the military forces of the past. Your hotel will be in Tirana.
